истПринят в 1841. Предоставлял скваттерам [ squatters; preemtors] преимущественно право приобретения в рассрочку земель к западу от р. Миссисипи [ Mississippi River], которые обрабатывались ими не менее пяти лет. Устанавливал размер участка (до 160 акров) и цену 1,25 долл. за акр при рассрочке платежа 15 месяцев. Принимались в 1796, 1800, 1804, 1820, 1841. Закон 1796 утвердил основные положения Ордонанса о земле 1785 [ Land Ordinance of 1785]. Установил условия продажи государственных земель (участок в 640 акров по цене 2 доллара за акр). Закон 1800 уменьшил участки продаваемых земель до 320 акров, закон 1804 - до 160 акров, 1820 - до 80 акров. Продажа государственных земель способствовала утверждению частной собственности на землю.
